Imphal, April 21 2022:
All Manipur Kidney Transplant Patients' Welfare Association has urged the state government to formulate a policy for providing free drugs to kidney transplant patients (KTP).
In a release, media advisor of the association Phanjoubam Lanajit Singh said that most of the KTPs are poor people.
A KTP patient usually spends around Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 every month in follow-up treatment as per their condition.
There are several members of the association who are living in rented houses after pawning their land for transplanting kidney and many have died as they could not buy medicines post-transplantation, he lamented.
