State social impact assessment unit of the directorate of environment and climate change has been conducting the public hearing for affected land owners and residents of the nearby areas of the proposed Imphal Ring Road project.
Manipur University department of economics professor Dr Elangbam Bijoykumar, SIA expert BB Sharma, survey expert Abdul Salam and environment and climate change joint director Dr T Brajakumar attended the last day of the public hearing as presidium members.
Taking part in the hearing, Thangmeiband United Club president L Pratap urged the directorate to take feedbacks of the people residing at the foothills of Thangmeiband Cheiraoching hill range but without any land holding documents.
T Brajakumar said that the SIA unit is a neutral and independent body, which connects the land owners with the government so that their issues could be heard by the government authority.
The public hearing is also a platform to inform the land owners as well as land occupiers (without land holding documents) who will be affected by the proposed Ring Road project so that they could make certain arrangements beforehand, he explained, adding that a People's Grievances Unit is also functioning under the SIA unit to take feedbacks and complaints of families, who do not have land holding documents.
One can approach the unit from 9 am to 5 pm on all working days, he said, while urging the public for support in the development works taken up by the government for welfare of the people.
