Help extended to B Gamnom firing survivor

Denizens of Kangpokpi town extended monetary assistance to a minor, who was injured in the infamous B Gamnom firing that took place on October 12 last year, through Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL), which is taking care of the boy 's medical treatment.
Initiated by local journalist Kaybie Chongloi in collaboration with Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation and Kanggui Youth Union and with approval of Kangpokpi Town Committee, a crowd funding drive was organised in Kangpokpi town on April 19 to help the minor boy, who is currently undergoing treatment at Mother's Care Hospital, Imphal.
The boy is one among the several injured in the incident.
His elder brother died on the spot with few others.
He had undergone treatment at JNIMS, Imphal where one out of two bullets was removed from his abdomen while another remains stuck in the spinal cord.
A few weeks back, he was taken to the same hospital and later shifted to Mother's Care Hospital where another operation was conducted.
However, doctors are still unable to remove the bullet from his spinal cord.
The family had exhausted all their resources and it was when the philanthropic organisation KKL stepped in to look after the boy's treatment.
On learning about the situation, journalist Kaybie organised a crowd funding in Kangpokpi town and collected a sum of Rs 66,965, which was handed over to the representatives of KKL at KTC office on Thursday by KTC chairman Angara Leivon, KWWO president Hekim Hangshing and KYU vice-resident Kamgougin Lunkim.
Various similar crowd funding drives were also organised in Motbung and Churachandpur by Thadou Artistes'" Association, and KKL in the form of a charity concert while many others also contributed through online fund drive launched by KKL.
