Public hearing on Ring Road concludes

The 3 days public hearing on Social Impact Assessment (SIA) on acquisition of land for construction of Imphal Ring Road concluded today at Naharol Leishemba Club at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai.
The public hearing organised by SIA unit of Directorate of Environment and Climate Change started on April 19 at various locations in Imphal to hear the plea and grievances of families affected by the land acquisition for the proposed ring road.
During the public hearing held today at Naharol Leishemba Club, locals of Lamphelpat area, who will be affected by the proposed ring road presented their grievances before the hearing which was attended by Dr T Brajakumar, Joint Director, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change; Corporator IMC ward number 1 Gaidon Gangmei and SIA experts BB Sharma, E Bijoy Singh and Md Abdul Salam.
Speaking at the public hearing, Dr T Brajakumar said SIA is being conducted as it is mandatory under the Land Acquisition Act.
He added that the SIA public hearing was being held after 120 days of publishing the first draft report which was published after collecting data from each house.
Dr T Brajakumar added that the public hearing which started on April 19 was held at 6 sites for 25 villages affected by the proposed ring road.
The affected locals have expressed their opinions and feedback which will be incorporated in the second draft report of SIA, he added.
