Celebration of Anna Yojana & Public Distribution held

Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD), Thoubal celebrated 'Arma Yojana & Public Distribution' as a part of 75 years of India's independence at Counting Hall, DC Complex Thoubal on Thursday.
The programme was at tended by Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash as chief guest, district supply officer (DSO) Md Nijamuddin as president and district food safety officer A Brojen as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Subhash appealed to the people of Thoubal district who are in possession of ration cards but are not eligible to receive the benefits to surrender their cards, while asking FPS agents to work in accordance to government guidelines or be ready to face action.
He pointed out that there are many households which were enlisted for the schemes in the past but are no more eligible to enjoy the same due to improvement in economic status.
However, as these families continue to receive bene fits of the scheme through stealthy means many deserving families are being deprived of their rights, he said and stressed the need for the FPS agents to mark such households and ask them to give up their cards.
Praising FPS agents for efficient distribution of free rice and lentils under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) when the state was in the grip of Covid-19 pandemic, the DC appealed to them to work together with district administration to ensure that PDS programme is properly implemented in the district.
The programme was also attended by FPS agents under CAF&PD Thoubal and other stakeholders.
