MSPCEA condemns assault on MSPDCL staff

Condemning the alleged assault on an MSPDCL employee on March 24 last at Bamon Leikai Thangjam Leirak by some unidentified persons, Manipur State Power Companies Employees' Association (MSPCEA) has demanded the authorities concerned to book the culprits involved in the incident.
Speaking to reporters at Keishampat power house today, Ph Shantaram Sharma, Junior Technical Assistant at MSPDCL alleged that he was assaulted by some locals when he and six other employees of MSPDCL were repairing a HT line at Bamon Leikai Thangjam Leirak on the night of March 24 .
He added that they were assaulted when he reacted to the verbal abuse against them by some locals who were drinking near the repairing site.
Shantaram went on to decry that he was forcefully made to say sorry to the crowd by the locals even after assaulting him.
MSPCEA general secretary Soram Sunnyboy condemned the incident, calling it inhuman and intolerant.
Stating that the incident affects the morale of all the MSPDCL employees, the general secretary demanded that the persons involved in the alleged crime be punished as per the law.
He continued to ask the MSPDCL and the Government to address the issue of staff shortage and equipment in the MSPDCL.
