Imphal, March 26 2022:
At least six student organisations have urged all the music bands and organisers involved in festivities and entertainment programmers after Yaoshang to appear before them within three days.
The six student organisations are AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS.
Speaking to the media at Kwakeithel today, AMSU president Haobijam Chalamba said that the six organisations have already requested to all to not organise any festivities and entertainment programme after Yaoshang in view of the Class X, XI and XII board examinations as normal classes have been disrupted for nearly two years by the Covid pandemic.
Saying that the decision was not taken for any ill feelings or to cut the source of income of people engaging in light and sound services and artists but for the wellbeing of the students, Chalamba maintained that certain organisations and music bands subscribing to the resolution of the student organisations is welcoming.
However, it is unfortunate that some sections of people have been engaging in festive activities,
he said.
Claiming that volunteers of the six organisations were detained at Patsoi Part II for asking to stop a Thabal Chongba there by some people last night and continued the festivity, he alleged that the volunteers later torched some musical instruments as the organisers didn't listen to their request.
He urged the organiser of Thabal Chongba at Tuliyaima Century Playground to appear before the student organisations.
If the demand is not heeded, then all musical bands and artists will be barred from performing in the said playground, he warned and appealed to the people of Manipur to support the student organisations and shun festivities till the BoSEM and CoHSEM examinations for the time being.
Chalamba also claimed that they have received unfortunate information about organising festive activities on the behest of certain MLAs and Ministers.
