Traditional dyeing training commences

A month-long training on traditional dyeing under Gramya Vikas Nidhi (GVN) NABSKILL of NABARD was inaugurated by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans' CS Ltd at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai on Saturday.
In his speech as chief guest of the inaugural function, Langthabal Zilla Parishad member Leimajam Roshan said that every individual in the society needs to cultivate the habit of working hard.
He then urged the participants to avail the benefits provided by NABARD and use the knowledge gained from the training to improve the economy for a better future.
Speaking as guest of honour, NABARD DDM Kiran Thokchom remarked that Manipur is famous for its handloom products.
Dyeing is one of the many techniques in used in the field of handloom, he said, adding that it gives life to the cloth and acts as value addition, capturing the attention of customers.
While Some prefer natural dyeing, some engage in chemical dyeing.
However, the presence of a local market is most important and thus, the products should maintain a high-quality level.
He then said that if the trainees are serious, efforts would be made to carry out more works in collaboration with the banks.
Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans' CS Ltd vice president Sougrakpam Bubhon presided over the inaugural function.
