Free heart disease detection camp held

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI), Imphal and National Health Mission- Nagaland have jointly organized a one-day free heart disease detection program under the aegis of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) for children aged 0 to 18 years at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima today.
During the camp, a total of 103 children from various parts of Nagaland were screened by the experts.
Free consultation and free ECHO screening were provided to all the registered individuals, said a press release by the Shija Hospitals.
More than 20 potential patients for ASD Device Closure, VSD Device Closure, PDA device Closure and open heart surgery cases were detected during the camp.
These children will be treated at Shija Hospitals under the RBSK Scheme, added the release.
It may be noted that RBSK is an important initiative of the Government of India aiming at early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 'D's viz Defects at birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, Development delays including disability.
