Govt announces 5-day working week

Imphal, March 26 2022:
In pursuance of the Cabinet's decision on March 22, the state government has declared five-day working week (Monday to Friday) for all offices/agencies/bodies/Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the state government with effect from April 1, except for 'vacation' departments.
As per a notice issued by deputy secretary Sunanda Thokchom, the working hours from Monday to Friday for all offices under the state government are 9 am to 5:30 pm for summer season (March to October) and 9 am to 5 pm for winter season (November to February).
Lunch break shall be from 1 pm to 1:30 for both seasons, it added.
Further, school hours will start at 8 am for all schools across the state from Monday to Saturday.
The Department of Education (Schools) will decide and fix length of school hours separately for various levels, it said.
Furthermore, departments dealing in essential services will work out roster system for employees for non-working days to ensure non-disruption of essential services, it added.
