Dr Ayub shifted to Wangkhem quarantine centre

Dr SM Ayub who fled from the quarantine centre of Peace Hospital and Research Institute (PHRI) before he was nabbed by police and sent to JNIMS special ward has been shifted to the quarantine centre of Government TB Hospital, Wangkhem.
Altogether 24 staff of PHRI including Dr SM Ayub were quarantined at the hospital after it was learnt that they treated the State's second COVID-19 positive man from Lilong before the man was confirmed to be COVID-19 positive.
After he was nabbed by police for fleeing from the quarantine centre, Dr Ayub was produced before a Duty Magistrate.
Although the Magistrate released the doctor on bail, he was directed to stay put in a quarantine centre.
It has been already reported that Dr Ayub is a Medicine Specialist posted at Thoubal District Hospital.
Dr Ayub was shifted to the quarantine centre of Government TB Hospital, Wangkhem from JNIMS special ward this morning, informed a source.
Meanwhile Health Minister L Jayantakumar informed that process has been initiated to take up necessary action against Dr Ayub and PHRI where he served as a consultant may also be de-recognised.
A Cabinet Minister informed that the Cabinet by circulation adopted a resolution yesterday whereby all MLAs would be allowed to withdraw Rs 25 lakh each from their MLA Local Area Development Fund to help fight COVID-19 pandemic.
