Imphal, April 08 2020:
Pertaining to the torching of security truck near Shangshak police station on Tuesday, Federation of Haomee (FOH) has asked the State Government as to how the truck was transporting iron rods for construction Chassad police station amid the Nationwide lockdown.
A press release signed by the president of FOH, Sapamcha Jadumani also asked from where the materials were brought when even shops selling essential commodities are closed.
Saying that the Chief Minister has recently announced that no permit will be given on movement other than those dealing in essential commodities and services, he demanded the State Government to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
If the goods were essential items, the truck might not have faced the same fate, he claimed.
Jadumani also opined that the truck might have been torched by irate villagers who were deprived of their entitled share.
And regarding the distribution of free rice in the State to mitigate the hardship bought by the lockdown, the federation urged the State Government 'to supply the promised quantity of rice to people in hill districts too'.
According to sources, the truck was burnt at around 12 noon Tuesday in between Shangching Alungtang and Gamnoum Shingcha village.
