Imphal, April 08 2020:
The State Government has warned all its employees who are ineligible to be listed as beneficiaries of National Food Security Act (NFSA) but have been somehow in possession of NFSA cards to surrender the same cards within seven days.
According to data available with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, 88.56 per cent of the State's rural population and 85.57 per cent of the urban population (based on NSSO data 2011-12) are covered by NFSA, said an office memorandum issued by Special Secretary (Home) H Gyan Prakash today.

The office memorandum said that a large number of Government employees who are ineligible have been issued cards under the National Food Security Act 2013 and are getting rice under the scheme at the cost of eligible households which have not been issued NFSA cards.
All Government employees who are in possession of NFSA cards should surrender the cards by contacting the DCs concerned through phone or e-mail within seven days otherwise disciplinary action would be taken up under CCS (CCA) Rules 1965 as adopted by the Govt along with action under section 52 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, warned the office memorandum.
