Imphal, April 27 2022:
The Socialist Revolutionary Party, Kangleipak (SOREPA) has formed a central committee to take forward the freedom struggle of Manipur with the appointment of Toijam Ibochouba as its chairman.
A press release issued by SOREPA, Kangleipak publicity secretary MC Yaiphabi said that altogether nine members have been appointed as the office bearers of the central committee and they will hold the office until a National Congress of the outfit is convened.
The office bearers are Toijam Ibochouba (chairman), K Korou (general secretary), Chingyang Meitei (military affairs secretary), Angou Khuman (finance secretary), Lamngakpa Meetei (cultural secretary), MC Yaiphabi (organization & publicity secretary), Kh Nongyin (associate member, military affairs), M Malemnganba Khuman (associate member, foreign & regional affairs) and L Araba (associate member, finance) .
SOREPA, Kangleipak said that April is a significant month in the history of Manipur as it was in this month that "our forefathers fought against the British for the sovereignty of the erstwhile kingdom" .
Saying that the central committee of SOREPA, Kangleipak has been formed with a commitment to reclaim the lost independence of Kangleipak and WESEA region, the outfit claimed that they will not retreat until their dream is realised.
Further stating that SOREPA will reach out to like minded groups to take forward the freedom movement of WESEA collectively, it continued that the outfit will also consider all the recommendations of different outfits to make the movement progress.
Urging the people to point out if they see any blunder without hesitation, SOREPA maintained it is natural for any movement to witness both up and down.
Instead of disheartening at the time of difficulty, it would be more productive to focus on chalking out new strategies, SOREPA opined.
On Centre's move to make Hindi a compulsory subject in North East India, SOREPA claimed that imposing Hindi on non speaking States will sow the seed of balkanisation.
Claiming that the BJP led Government sponsors State and cultural extremism and aims to establish Hindu Nation "Akhand Bharat" by abolishing smaller communities, SOREPA alleged.
Further claiming that they will continue scheming to impose Hindi even if the people resists, SOREPA alleged that the Modi led Government at the Centre practises coercive federalism according to a leader of South India.
Claiming that annexing a land or a group of people by imposing the lifestyle, culture, language etc will be far more serious and have a serious consequence than annexation through might, SOREPA claimed that India has been adopting different strategies to abolish the lifestyle and culture of South India and WESEA region.
Further claiming that colonial India is planning to promote Hindi in the WESEA region by hoodwinking the people by lifting AFSPA from certain areas of the region, SOREPA alleged that the move to impose Hindi on the region only aims at complete colonization of the region.
SOREPA also claimed that the proposal to make Hindi a compulsory subject was submitted by Shiksha Sanskrit Uttham Nyas, a wing of the RSS to NCERT.
Meanwhile, the statement said that the armed wing of SOREPA has been christened as People's Revolutionary Army (PRA) and the communique of the outfit will be signed by its publicity secretary MC Yaiphabi while any donation related papers will be issued under the name of finance secretary Angou Khuman.
