Ward member, hubbies of two members arrested

Imphal, April 27 2022:
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department has arrested a ward member of Sawombung Gram Panchayat along with the husbands of two members bn the charge of the misappropriating funds in preparation of job cards under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The arrested ward member has been identified as Koijam Sundar (50) s/o (L)Tbocha.
Sundar is the ward member of Sawombung Village no 1 of Sawombung GP.
The other two people have been identified as Kamei Gaidonchung (45) husband of Sawombung Village no 2 ward member Kamei Rajni Kabui, and Laishram Meeteinganba (36) husband of Sawombung Village no 5 ward member Sobita Leima.
According to report of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department, a complaint was received on December 23 last year regarding allegations of anomalies during the job card enrolment of MGNREGS in Sawombung GP, following which an inquiry was carried out.
The final report of the inquiry, which was submitted on April 26, mentioned that 13 bogus job cards were found, along with 63 multiple job cards.
Based on the report, a team of Vigilance PS arrested the three people from their respective residences on Wednesday morning.
The report further conveyed that Koijam Sundar made several fake job cards which were linked to different bank accounts.
He also made 7 bogus job cards.
Kamei Gaidonchung made multiple job cards and was found in possession of 10 fake job cards while Laishram Meeteinganba made a job card for himself and linked the same to an account in Manipur State Co-Operative Bank Limited.
The latter is working as a rifleman in Manipur Police and currently posted at MPTC.
Around 16 multiple job cards, which Meeteinganba made with his wife, were seized.
