Imphal, April 27 2022:
Apart from wreaking havoc in different parts of the State, the squall that ravaged Imphal and the adjoining areas in the wee hours of today, snapped the High Tension wire that runs over the new building of The Sangai Express at Changangei Uchekon.
The snapped high tension wire fell atop the roof of the new building of The Sangai Express, though no one was was hurt as it was early in the morning.
The 33/11 KV High Tension wire runs from Yurembam to the Airport and it is strung over the new office building of The Sangai Express.

How a high tension wire was allowed to be strung over a patta land, exposing many to danger is a question that has not yet been answered.
Significantly this was not the first time that the high tension wire has snapped and earlier there have been cases of the said HT line coming into contact with the nearby buildings and sparking fire.
