Imphal, April 27 2022:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) in collaboration with Sinakeithei Katamnao Long (SKL) and RIMS organised a free medical camp at Sinakeithei village of Ukhrul district on Wednesday.
As part of the camp, various essential items were distributed to the students and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) of the area.
A 23-member MSF team led by its vice president Maibam Julesh also distributed stationery items to the poor students of the area for free during the two-day long camp which commenced on Tuesday.
The team also handed over wheelchairs and hearing aids to the PwDs of the area.
On Wednesday, a team of doctors from RIMS assisted in organising a free medical camp.
Speaking on the sidelines, Maibam Julesh stated that although the government claims to be providing benefits of various schemes/programmes in the remote hill areas of the state, the ground reality is quite different, particularly with regard to health, education and transportation facilities.
The government needs to assess whether the health care centres in the hill areas are working properly or not, he asserted, while stressing the need for government employees to sincerely perform their duties in the areas they are posted.
While noting the huge difference in the educational levels between the hills and the valley, the vice president commented on the disproportionate teacher-student ratio across the state.
He continued that the health and education sectors play a critical role in development and as such, the government needs to focus on these sectors to realise uniform development in both the hills and the valley.
Julesh then appreciated the assistance provided by RIMS authority, All Manipur Chemist and Druggists' Association and others in organising the two-day programme.
In all, 300 villages in and around Sinakeithei village benefited from the programme, he added.
