Imphal, April 15 2023:
The JAC against the 'brutal killing of Laishram Amarjit' has cautioned of launching an intense agitation if the Government fails to figure who attacked VDF personnel Amajit (33) and left him unconsicous at Sabungkhok Khunou Waited Shed on March 9 by April 22 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, JAC convenor Elangbam Dayananda said that Amarjit alias Ethoi breathed his last on March 31.
Saying that Amarjit went out to attend a Thabal Chongba at a ground near Yaingangpokpi PHC on March 9 at around 9 pm along with his friends, he maintained that Amarjit headed for home alone after enjoying the event for a while.
He (Amarjit), however, was found lying unconscious at around 12 am with bruise marks and cuts on the head, Dayananda informed and added that Amarjit was picked by a group of passer-by and admitted the injured to Raj Medicity.
The convenor continued that Amarjit, unfortunately, died on March 31 .
Saying that slow pace of investigation by Yaingangpokpi police is giving untold misery to the victim family seeking justice, Dayananda said neither they nor the family of the deceased have the report of the post mortem which was conducted at JNIMS many days back.
He then cautioned that the people of Lamlai will launch an agitation if the authority concerned doesn't book the culprits by April 22 .
He also appealed to the State Government to provide a Government job to the next of kin of Amarjit.
