JAC demands justice in Amarjit murder case

The JAC against the Brutal Killing of Late Laishram Amarjit alias Ethoi, Lamlai has demanded the authority concerned to investigate murder case and apprehend the culprits involved by April 22.Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, JAC convenor Elangbam Dayananda Singh recounted that Amarjit s/o Laishram Mushuk Meitei of Lamlai Makha Leikai, a VDF member attached to Yaingangpokpi police station had gone out from his house to attend a Thabal Chongba event at the football ground near Yaingangpokpi PHC around 9pm on March 9 with his friends.
Shortly after, he bid goodbye to his four friends and was walking back home only to be found unconscious with a bleeding head wound at Sabungkhok Khunou waiting shed around midnight by passers-by.
A kind-hearted person working at Yaingangpokpi PS halted a passing vehicle and rushed him to Raj Medicity for treatment, the convenor conveyed.
Observing seriousness of Marjit's condition, the doctors operated on him on March 10 and he was admitted to the 1CU.After staying in the ICU for 9 days, his condition improved a bit and shifted to the general ward.
On March 31 around 8.30am, Marjit complained of breathing problems and was readmitted to the ICU but doctors declared him dead around 9.30 am.
A post mortem examination of the body was done at JNIMS, but the report is yet to be provided to the family.
On top of this, although a sou moto case was registered on March 9 around 12.30 am, there has been no headway in the investigation even after 38 days.
This has left the bereaved family in anguish, Dayananda remarked.
Thus, the convenor demanded authority concerned to investigate and reveal the truth of the case by April 22, failing which the peopieand civil bodies of Lamlai will launch intense agitations.
He further appealed to the government to provide a government job and extend assistance to the family in consideration for the well-being of Amar-jit's two young kids.
