RIMS observes National Laundry Day 2023

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Saturday observed 1st National Laundry Day 2023 at Banting Hall, RIMS.
RIMs director Prof H Priyoshakhi Devi stressed the importance of laundry, recalling that way back in 1987, dhobis (washers) used to carry out the laundry work at the RIMS Hospital.
In those days, RIMS was even unable to supply bed sheets adequately to patients.
Nowadays, the laundry treatment system has improved considerably compared to earlier days, she added.
The RIMS director then stressed the need to hold a meeting to share opinions regarding the requirements and works for more advinced laundry treatment system at RIMS and submit a proposal to the ministry concerned as.
well as for consideration in the executive council meeting.
She added that every section of all departments is equally important as each contributes to the development of the institute.
The director then urged all the officials and staff to cooperate and help each other to make RIMS a good institute.
RIMS hospital medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh informed that a new laundry building has been constructed and a new laundry machine has also arrived, adding that within 1 or 2 months a new laundry section will be set up.
He also noted the importance of nursing officials/nursing officers' duties and responsibility in the hospital, saying that they are the ones who can bring changes in the management of hospital to a new level.
The medical superintendent assured to provide adequate bed sheets to patients with a new bed sheet for every single day and advised patient parties not to use their home bed sheets.
The event was attended by W Ibeyaima Devi, chief nursing superintendent in-charge of RIMS Hospital, N Ibemhal Devi, deputy nursing superintendent i/c RIMS Hospital, and Th Binodini Devi, mechanical laundry & senior nursing officer i/c RIMS Hospital, heads of departments, faculty members, nursing officials and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
