Two die in drowning, one in accident

Imphal, April 15 2023:
A 10-year old boy lost his life on Friday after drowning at Irong Thokchom point of the Thoubal River under Thoubal police station.
The deceased has been identified as Meisnam Lanchenba, son of Aten of Irong Thokchom Maisnam Leikai.
According to police source, around 9 am, Lanchenba along with two others went to the river to collect mud for preparation of the ritual platform where dishes made to celebrate Cheiraoba festival is usually placed.
However, Lanchenba slipped into the river and remain traceless for some hours before his lifeless body was fished out by a team of Thoubal district police with the assistance of a shaman (maiba), the source added.
On the other hand, one Siwangbou Daimai, son of Kingliamang Daimai from L Pabram village but was residing at Tamenglong ward number 5 lost his life after drowning in the PHED Water Reservoir located in the same area while swimming there.
The drowning mishap happened on Saturday around 4.30 pm.
In another incident, one person died and another two were injured when a Tata Safari Storm collided with Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 350 near Thongju Pechu Lampak under Singjamei police station on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Wahengbam Rocky Singh (34) son of Muhindro of Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai.
According to police, a Tata Safari Storm (MN01AK 0809) collided with Royal Enfield near Pechu Lampak.
Three people who were riding the Bullet sustained injuries in the collision.
All the injured were rushed to RIMS hospital for treatment, but Rocky, who was driving the Bullet, succumbed to injuries.
