Imphal, April 15 2023:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh, declared that no inch of India s territory can be lost.
Unfortunately, it is strange that the union home minister is unaware of the loss of Manipur's territory along the Indo-Myanmar border, especially after the advent of the BJP-led coalition government in the state, All Manipur Nupi Marup has remarked.
According to a release issued by All Manipur Nupi Marup secretary L Sumatibala, the organisation visited Haolenphai village in June, 2015 after reports of loss of Manipur's territory along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The issue of the border pillars erected at the location continues to remain unresolved till date.
Before the border fencing work began along the 349km stretch of Indo-Myanmar border, there was an issue of Myanmar army re-erecting the border pillars 2-3 km within Manipur's territory in 1971, which also remains unresolved till date.
Although teams of Surveyor of India visited the locations many times, none of the boundary issues have been solved, the release pointed out.
It continued that many CSOs had expressed their displeasure after discovering the border fencing works being continued along the Indo- Myanmar border of Ukhrul and Tengnoupal districts despite instructions from the Surveyor of India and the Chief Minister to halt the same.
As such, the question of the hour is whether the government truly wants to protect Manipur's territory or not.
Condemning the silence of Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr RK Ranjan, who was once extremely vocal about resolving the Indo-Myanmar border issue and protecting Manipur's territory; All Manipur Nupi Marup extended its full support to all activities taken up by different CSOs for protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
