Imphal, April 15 2023:
The armed United People's Revolutionary Front of Manipur (UPRFM) reportedly celebrated its 5th Raising Day on Saturday.
According to a statement of UPRFM issued by its information & publicity secretary L Rolin alias Thoupangba Meitei, the celebration was held at outfit's general headquarters as well as at divisional and sector areas participated by both cadres and public.
The main celebration organised at the Front's general headquarters was attended by outfit's chairman T Bhudhi alias Tamnganba, who unfurled the party's flag.
Chairman Bhudhi also read out the annual statement of the outfit and reminded cadres about their responsibilities to carry forward the armed movement to regain the lost sovereignty of Kangleipak (Manipur).
According to the statement, chairman Bhudhi also recalled how India occupied Kangleipak on October 15, 1949 and then gradually destroyed culture and identity of people of Kangleipak and WESEA region with open and covert policies so that entire people of the region could be fully assimilated into the culture of mainland Indians.
Ever since the occupation, India completely seized the economy and administration of Kangleipak thereby posing a big challenge to the society and administration as well as survival of indigenous people of the land due to demographic influx.
As a result of this, enmity among indigenous people who had been living together in the land since time immemorial increased and identity of the collective society threatened.
Attempts are being made to distort even the historical facts of Kangleipak which bound together all the indigenous peoples of the land since time immemorial, the UPRFM statement quoted chairman T Bhudhi as saying during the Raising Day celebration.
The statement further said that UPRFM launched the armed movement with the consent of the people and it is the bounden duty of the every citizen of the land to shoulder their responsibility for restoring the sovereignty snatched away by India.
The outfit also thanked all the people and organisations which extended support to the armed movement for restoring lost sovereignty of Kangleipak.
