Imphal, April 15 2023:
While drawing the attention of the authority concerned with regard to the absence of diversion signage in the road expansion work being carried out from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner along the Imphal-Ukhrul road, which is causing huge inconvenience to the people; Tangkhul Katamnao Long (TKL) Imphal has also urged for completing the repair work at the earliest.
Addressing a press meet held at the conference hall of TRI, Chingmeirong on Friday, TKL ex-president and social activities Fil-son Y Lunghar said that NHIDCL had commenced the road expansion work from September 2020 at a cost of Rs 260.4 crore and set a target to complete the project within 24 months.
However, the work done by the two sub-contractors, Dhruv Consultancy Services Limited and M/S Varaha Infrastructure Limited have been unsatisfactory, not to mention of the companies refusing to abide by the agreements reached regarding the project.
As a result, people residing on both sides of the road are being greatly inconvenienced.
Filson Y Lunghar continued that the absence of a road diversion signage is a serious cause of concern, with unsuspecting drivers/riders falling into the pit dug up for construction of a culvert.
The situation is more dangerous for those travelling in the night time.
Thus, he urged the government to look into the companies involved in the project, help install road diversion signage and further see to the completion of the project as soon as possible.
The ex-president then advised anyone involved in accident or having vehicular problems on this stretch of road to contact TKL's helpline number - 6009492171, adding that it will provide all possible assistance.
