Biswajit meets displaced people in relief camps

Agriculture min-ister Thongam Biswajit along with Pa tsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeshwar and Imphal West DC Thokchom Kirankumar visited CRPF camp at Lamphelpat and interacted with people of Kuki community, who are taking refuge in the camp.
The minister also spoke with commandant of the CRPF unit and assured all-out assistance from the government's side in evacuating the stranded people to safe locations.
Interacting with the me-dia during the visit, Biswajit said that lives of scores of in-nocent people were lost and several houses and proper-ties burned in the violent clash that erupted on May 3.He appreciated securi-ty personnel as well as the public for their support in setting up relief camps and providing safe shelter to the displaced people.
So far, the government has evacuated more than 20,000 people to safe locations and further evacuation process is un-derway, he said.
The minister also in-formed about the state gov-ernment's announcement to pay ex-gratia to deceased persons, and compensation to the injured as well as fam-ilies who lost their proper-ties during the course of the violence, while appealing to all to control their emotions and work towards restoring peace and normalcy.
He also urged community leaders and elders to cooperate in bringing peace.
Biswajit further assured that evacuation of displaced people to safer locations will be completed in a couple of days.
The were around 6000 people taking refuge in the CRPF camp out of who over 3,500 have been evacuated.
The remaining will be escorted to Chandel, Tengnoupal and Moreh under the supervision of Assam Rifles.
Displaced people staying in the CRPF camp at Langjing will also be evacuated soon, he added.
