Ex-minister calls for restoring normalcy

Underscoring the need for according prior-ity in restoring normalcy and evacuation of displaced people to safe places, former minister Dr Kh Ratankumar has appealed to the govern-ment and all sections of the society to play their part in restoring normalcy.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, Dr Ratankumar said that May 3 will remain as a dark chapter in the history of Manipur and conveyed his condolences to the victims of the clash and shared the grief and pain of the bereaved and displaced families.
He said that now is not the time to level allegations against one another but to bring peace and normalcy so that the af-fected families could resettle.
As for the root cause of the incident, the government had already announced its decision for a high level en-quiry and Supreme Court has also intervened, he noted.
Dr Ratankumar also urged the central and state govern-ments for speeding up the evacuation process of people taking refuge in relief camps in different districts.
He also called upon the public to provide safe passage to the evacuees and cooperate in the government's efforts to restore normalcy.
He further appealed to all sections of the society to give up hatred, forgive one another and live peacefully while upholding the age old relationship while assuring personal assistance to the displaced families.
