Governor meets military, COCOMI team

Imphal, May 09 2023:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday held talks with Eastern Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen RP Mal-ita, GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen HS Sahi and IGAR (South) Maj Gen Rajan Sherawat and representatives of Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) namely Kh Athouba and Jitendra Ningombam, at Raj Bhavan, here, to discuss the prevailing restive situation arising out of the ethnic clash.
During the meeting with the top military officials, the Governor ap-preciated the vital role played by the Army as well as the responsibilities discharged by them at this critical juncture.
She informed the GOC-in-C that the efforts made by the Assam Rifles and Army are welcomed by one and all the people of the state.
COCOMI team while suggesting to the military officers to continue extending help in containing any untoward incident so as to enable the state return to normalcy and maintain the age-old tradition of peaceful co-existence in Manipur, the Governor also highlighted the indispensable cooperation from the Assam Rifles and Army to shift people staying in different Relief Camps to their respective places safely.
On the other hand, during her meeting with the COCOMI represen-tatives, the Governor expressed her unhappiness about the incidents and informed them that the relentless efforts made by the state govern-ment as well as the security forces to contain the violence peacefully are commendable and praiseworthy.
