2,500 escorted to CCpur, 3000 plus brought from Moreh, CCpur

Around 2,500 people rescued and sheltered in dif ferent relief camps in Imphal reached Churachandpur on Tuesday while similar num-bers of people who were in re-lief camps in Churachandpur including at mini-secretariat complex, Tuibong were given safe passage towards Imphal.
Apart from taking up prompt measures to restore normalcy in the district, the Churachan-dpur district administration has been working overtime both for restoration of law and order and welfare measures for the rescued people at relief camps.
Efforts are also on to facilitate evacuation of people who are still at relief camps.
Necessary steps are in place to ensure availability of essential items to the public in coordination with the state authority.
As many as 2,099 displaced Meetei people from Churachandpur district were evacuated on Tuesday.
The riot-hit people took refuge in the DC complex, AR and BSF camps as their houses were burned by mob after the May 3 tribal solidarity march turned violent in the district, which later spread in different parts of the state.
Most of them are staying in relief camps set up in Moirang area while some were brought to Khuman Lampak.
Similarly, 1200 Meetei victims of the mob evacuated on Tuesday.
They were brought up to Pallel, from where some were handed over to their relatives and friends and the remaining brought to Khuman Lampak.
Relief materials were extended at the Khu-man Lampak relief camp by different clubs and organisations.
Medical professionals are also stationed in the relief camp under the aegis of CMOs of Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
Meanwhile, 109 more vehicles and 408 passengers, who were left stranded along.

The district administration has also extended assistance to various civil society organ-isations of the district by pro-viding rice for the relief camps run by them.
At the same time, curfew was relaxed for five hours from 6 am to 11am which enabled people to come out to purchase essential commodi-ties.
The district administration has spared no efforts in facili-tating normalcy in the district by continuously reaching out to civil society organisations and maintaining close security coordination.
Currently, around 1,700 peo-ple are secured at different relief centres in various parts of the district and the district admin-istration urged all concerned to maintain peace and refrain from spreading misinformation that can cause law and order issue in the district.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles and CRPF evacuated 3299 displaced victims of the clash, who were stranded in different parts of Moreh town and Chu-rachandpur district on Tuesday.
