Elderly man appeals for people in state

Appealing to the gov-ernment and all concerned including civil society or-ganisations to ensure that normalcy prevails in the state in the aftermath of the ethnic violence, an elderly person from Sangaiprou TR colony namely MS Neichung has urged authority concerned to compensate for the de-struction caused to a local church.
Addressing media persons at TR colony Neichung said that people of different com-munities including Meitei, Kom, Chiru, Aimol, Cho-the, Koireng and two Kuki families totalling about 80 families had been settling at the colony since 2010.He further informed that in the communal clash which started in Churachandpur and spread across the state, the mob also burnt the Kuki houses in the colony.
Unfor-tunately, a house of Kom was also torched in the incident in addition to burning down a church in the area.
While stating that out-break of the communal vi-olence was unfortunate and unwanted, he said that all communities settling in the state are one and should live in peace and harmony.
There is the need to restore mutu-al love and understanding among the communities.
Therefore, the state gov-ernment and civil society organisations should ensure that peace and normalcy pre-.
vails in the state.
MS Neichung further stat-ed that though not much problem were faced by TR colony residents three hous-es and a church was burnt down.
Properties worth around Rs 20 to 30 lakh of the Church were destroyed beyond repair, he maintained and urged the government compensate for the loss.
