Imphal, May 09 2023:
Deeply concerned over the present restive situation and fearing escalation the ten-sion unless timely intervention is made, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) said no undue advantage should be taken to establish separate administrations in Manipur in the wake of the present crisis.
In a statement, AMUCO said exclusive community based demands must be avoided as Manipur is home to multiple ethnic communities and there is a need for inter-community communication and retrospec-tion.
According to the AMUCO, the Tribal Solidarity Rally organised on May 3 by ATSUM in the hill districts of Manipur resulted in violent incidents in Churachandpur district.
The unabated escalation of violence in the state should have been pre-empted and contained had the government acted timely.
The failure on the part of the government in containing the violence in the first place is more than evident in the context of present conflict in Manipur.
The violence has severely affected the age-old fraternal harmony in Manipur, the AMUCO said.
While reiterating that it firmly believes in the spirit of co-existence and collective development apart from up-holding co-existence, AMUCO said government should with-out any delay ensure safety of all the people stuck in relief camps and ensure return to respective homes safely.
The government should ensure the distribution of necessary relief materials such as food, water, medical aids, etc., without fur-ther delay, it said.
AMUCO reiterated that all the responsible citizens of Manipur and the government should make an earnest at-tempt to reach out to the roots and origin of the present ten-sion to avoid further escalation of violence and to prevent oc-currence of such unfortunate incidents in future.
Such a need is warranted due to the evident cover up of the actual concerns of the common citizens as sev-eral forces are apparently seen to be orchestrated to flare up the situation, the AMUCO said.
The AMUCO then appealed everyone and stakeholders to refrain from spreading ma-licious propaganda and fake news that can have detrimental effects on restoration of peace and harmony.
