Imphal, May 09 2023:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey has urged Left Parties in the state to help in bring-ing peace and tranquillity and restoring normalcy.
A delegation of Left Par-ties in Manipur led by CP1-M state secretary Kshetrima-yum Santa called on the Gov-ernor on Monday evening.
The delegation included CPI-M secretariat member Sarat Salam, CPI leaders L Sotinkumar & RK Amusana, RSP state secretary Kangjam Manoranjan and AIFB state secretary Khomdram Gya-neshwar.
The delegation met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and shared suggestions to bring an amicable solution to the communal violence which started on May 3 and to restore normalcy in the state.
The delegation expressed their views that there were lapses in the security ar-rangement in curbing the violence, which claimed many lives and damaged properties of the people in different parts of the state, particularly in Churachan-dpur, Imphal and Moreh.
The delegation welcomed the initiative taken by the Governor to maintain com-munal harmony.
They proposed that relief materials such as edibles, clothes and essential items be distributed to the more than 50,000 people, who are taking refuge in relief camps run by government and private organisations in the state, rescue and evac-uate the persons, who are hiding in the hills and plains, give compensation to fami-lies of the victims, construct houses for the persons whose houses were burnt and to ar-range suitable shelter houses for the victims, disarm Kaki militant groups under Sus-pension of Operation (So0) and to keep them in the des-ignated camps, recover arms and ammunition snatched from state security personnel by mob during the initial days of the violence, include representatives of opposition political parties to look after the relief and shelter camps set up in different places, implement the resolutions adopted by the All Political Parties meeting convened by Chief Minister N Biren on May 6, use the Governor's office to bring peace and tranquillity and to restore normalcy in the state.
After patiently hearing the points raised by the delegation, Governor Ui-key appealed to them to help the state administration in restoration of normalcy and bringing peace and tranquil-lity at the soonest possible.
