Decks cleared for counting

All preparations for the counting of votes of the two Parliamentary seats of Manipur scheduled on May 16 have been completed.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Inner Manipur P/C RO and Imphal West DC K Radhakumar said CCTV cameras have been installed in all counting centre apart from installing necessary gadgets for webcasting the counting.
Restrictions under CrPC 144 have been clamped near counting centres besides taking up stringent security measures to avert any untoward incident.
Outer Manipur P/C RO and Thoubal DC T Ranjit said that multi-layered security arrangements have been made for the counting of votes.
CCTV cameras as well as gadgets necessary for web-casting the counting process have been installed in all counting halls.
Vehicles coming from Imphal would not be allowed to proceed beyond Yairipok junction and those coming from Wangjing side would be stopped at Arong Lamkhai.
Vehicles for transportation of counting officials/staff have been arranged, Ranjit said.
Vehicles of only the CEO, observers, RO and AROs would be allowed entry up to the counting halls but without escort teams, he said.
Meanwhile, 18 observers appointed by the ECI for monitoring the counting process arrived here today.
Votes for Outer MPC would be counted on 107 tables and for Inner Manipur P/C on 105 tables.
