IED found planted at Governor Road

Indicating loopholes in the security measures put up around VVIP residences, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found planted at Paona Bazar Governor Road just few yards away from the compound of Raj Bhavan today morning.
The remote-controlled IED weighing about one kilogram was found near a mango tree.
A woman shopkeeper reportedly saw it first and she informed a patrol team of CRPF posted at the Raj Bhavan.
On hearing about the presence of IED, a bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police immediately rushed to the spot and retrieved the explosive device safely.
Later, the police conducted search operation at Paona Bazar area.
But, there was no arrest of any suspect.
On the other hand, four security jawans including a Junior Commission Officer (JCO) of Madras Regiment reportedly sustained serious injuries when armed UGs attacked them in Churachandpur district this morning.
Police said that the armed UGs launched the attack when the personnel of 25 B-Company of Madras Regiment and 1/11 Gorkha Regiment were interchanging their camps at Thaikhothang village near Border Pillar Number 45 along the Indo-Myanmar border in Singhat sub-division of Churachandpur district at around 5:30 am today.
Reports said the armed UGs fired mortar shells at the camp.
The security personnel also retaliated, thus resulting in exchange of firing from both sides for about two hours.
Of the injured jawans, the JCO has been identified as Murgan Dan and he has been evacuated to the military hospital at Leimakhong.
Meanwhile, some miscreants hurled a hand grenade at the residence of Superintending Engineer of CADA Thokchom Kesho (62) of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi undr Singjamei Police Station at around 12 noon today.
Fortunately, the grenade did not explode.
Reports said two youths in a bike came and hurled the grenade.
Police retrieved the bomb later on.
Womenfolk of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi staged a sit-in decrying hurling of a hand grenade at Kesho's residence.
