Ukhrul bids adieu to Grinder Muivah

The mortal remains of Grinder Muivah a "Go between" for Indo- Naga peace dialogue was laid to rest today at his native village, Somdal in Ukhrul district.
A condolence programme was held at TNL ground, Ukhrul yesterday before the body was taken to his native village.
Grinder Muivah expired at New Delhi on April 6 due to heart ailments.
TNL president Weapon Zimik in his speech at the condolence service appreciated Grinder's roles in the Indo-Naga peace process and said that his roles were remarkable.
Grinder was instrumental in the signing of the ceasefire between Govt of India and NSCN-IM in 1997 .

Sonia Muivah, wife of the late Grinder Muivah said that the wonderful reception given to her late husband's mortal remains was a sign that Nagas love him.
She further added that her husband had endured much hardship for the cause of the Nagas.
She urged the country men to uphold the spirit of her husband.
In the condolence programme held at TNL ground, all the 16 Naga tribes of Manipur offered their traditional shawls and wreath to mark respect and honour.
Condolence message from UNC, NPF, Lok Sabha member from Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland and the collective leadership of NSCN IM were read out before gatherings.
Shangreihan Muivah, father of Grinder Muivah has also urged the Tangkhul community to unite and play a role model in resolving the Indo-Naga issue through peaceful means.
At Somdal village today, thousands of people attended the funeral programme and paid their last respect to the departed soul.
