Guwahati, April 09 2016 :
Once elected to power in Assam, the BJP would not only completely seal the Indo-Bangla border but would also "completely free" Assam of the Bangladeshi problem, BJP national president Amit Shah said at Guwahati on Saturday.
"The BJP government at the Centre has already resolved the boundary issue with Bang-ladesh.
We will soon complete- ly seal the border," he said.
When asked how the BJP proposed to deport the detected infiltrators, Shah said that deportation was one task that would have to be carried out jointly by the government of Assam, government of India and government of Bangladesh.
"While we are committed to implement the Assam Accord in letter and spirit, another priority will be to totally stop further infiltration from Bangladesh," he said.
The BJP president, who accused the Congress of protecting Bangladeshi infil- trators, also asked the Congress to make its stand clear on the influx issue.
"We have several times asked the Congress to make its stand clear on the Bangladeshi influx issue.
But both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have maintained a stoic silence (on it).
This is dangerous," Shah said.
Shah also said that Tarun Gogoi had even gone to the extent of denying the presence of Bangladeshi infil- trators in Assam.
"Gogoi has recently said he would quit if anyone could show him a Bangladeshi infiltrator.
But Gogoi forgot that his government had produced a White Paper in 2012 that gives details about how many thou- sand persons have been declared as infiltrators by various tribunals since 1985," the BJP president said.
He displayed a copy of the White Paper to prove his point.
"In this election development and Bangladeshi influx are the biggest issues.
For years together, the youth of Assam have been deprived of jobs and opportunities because of the Bangladeshis, while the culture of Assam is also under serious threat," Shah said.
he BJP president claimed that the alliance would win a clear two-thirds majority in this election.
"While the people had voted in a massive manner in favour of the BJP and allies in the first phase, I am confident that the same will be repeated in the second and final phase on Monday," he said.
The BJP chief also said that once voted to power his party would also hand over investigation into Saradha and other chit funds to the CBI.
"We will ask the CBI to probe the Saradha and other chit fund scams," Shah said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Friday blamed the Congress government's policy that had allegedly discouraged poor people to go banks and instead invest their hard-earned money in chit fund companies.
