20 Dengue cases detected in IE

Imphal, October 15 2022:
As many as 20 Dengue cases have been detected in Laipham Khunou area of Imphal East district.
Two of the infected are said to be in serious condition.
A child was first confirmed to have been infected by Dengue on October 8.Subsequently, blood samples of other people who were suffering from symptoms similar to those of Dengue were tested and 20 of them were found positive for Dengue.
Meanwhile, the Imphal East CMO informed that 29 other blood samples were collected from the same locality today and they have been sent to the VDRL Testing Centre, JNIMS.
The CMO said that the results would be known tomorrow.
A Dengue test cum awareness programme was held at Laipham Khunou today under the aegis of the National Health Society, National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control, Imphal East and Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association.
Speaking at the awareness programme, Imphal East District Malaria Officer Dr U Jugindro appealed to all the people to take up all possible preventive measures against Dengue.
Saying that Dengue is generally transmitted by a mosquito species which attack mankind before sunset, Dr Jugindro urged all the people to avoid mosquito bites during day time.
He also asked the people to see that there is no stagnant water around dwelling houses and in unused vessels.
He warned that a person infected by Dengue may face complications due to severe decline in blood platelet if he/she is not treated in time.
