Imphal, October 15 2022:
The Naga Women's Union (NWU) has condemned and expressed its 'absolute disagreement and vexation' against the arson attack on Taphou Naga village chief K Tailu's residence on October 7 .
In a release, Union president Asha Wungnam said the attack was made with an "ambiguous intention of murdering him (Tailu) or his whole family".
"Seeing such inhuman act which rarely or never happened in our land has made our hearts utmost bitter, fear stricken and is extreme wicked", she said.
The union decried that such attack will never bring solution to any situation or satisfy hatred and greed rather than adding fuel to terrorism.
Violence such as burning, firing, bombing and arson attack don't have a place in our tradition and our cultures strongly reject it, the release said.
The union also demanded that the perpetrators involved in the attack must claim responsibilities and seek pardon to pacify the worried souls.
All right thinking persons should shout for justice and placid environment in our land, she said.
The union further put forward a plea to the authorities concerned to take serious note of the attack and book the culprits so as to restore peace.
