NIA raids residences of RPF/PLA cadres

National Investigation Agency (NIA) Imphal Branch raided the residences of eight RPF/ PLA cadres including one juvenile who are allegedly involved in the killing of non locals at Kakching and Huikap recently.
The raid was carried out as a part of the investigation taken up by NIA Imphal Branch by re-registering the case at Yairipok police station in compliance with the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs dated Sept 26 .
The residences of the RPF/PLA cadres were raided simultaneously.
The cadres are Chingkham Basanta (38), s/o Ning-thembi of Andro Nung-yungbi; Moirangthem Jitesh (22), s/o (L) Sanjit of Kak-ching Ningthou Leikai; Konjengbam Romio @ Nongthon (28), s/o Raghu of Moirang Konjengbam; Phanjoubam Rabi @ Nanao (26), s/o Kula of Andro Labaochum Ching Leikai; Salam Mangijao (55), s/o (L) Tombi of Kakching Wairi Salam Leikai; Naorem Manoj (23), s/o Nobin of Luker Mayai Leikai; Samurailatpam Akash @ Muston (19), s/o Rajeswor of Kakching Wairi Saban Bamon Leikai and at the residence of the juvenile at Kakching Wairi Tanki Pareng from early morning till noon with the assistance of State police.
The raid was conducted just a day after the NIA Court Manipur approved the application filed by the Chief Investigating Officer of NIA Imphal Branch to take custody of the seven cadres of RPF/ PLA, excluding the juvenile, who are currently at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
The Court had also directed the NIA to produce the accused persons within 24 hours after taking them into custody on October 17 .
The eight cadres of RPF/PLA were arrested by a combined team of Thoubal commando and a column of 16 Assam Rifles on August 13 along with two 9 mm pistols and two hand grenades on the charge of killing non locals at Kak-ching on June 23 and at Andro Huikap in July.
