Senapati, October 15 2022:
Following the intervention of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, a team of PWD Engineers and contractor visited the tourist site at Naamai Zho, Koide under Purul Sub-division, Senapati today.
Locals led by Koide Union (KU) president Th Thoho and village leaders interacted with the visiting team.
The team included Additional Chief Engineer-II, N Subhas; Superintending Engineer National Highway Circle, Ch Biswachandra; Executive Engineer-Senapati Division, K Lokho Chalai and Section Officer Siddhartha Singh among others.
The PWD team informed that the Chief Minister who also holds the Tourism portfolio has expressed keen interest to develop Naamai Zho as a tourist destination to attract more people from outside Manipur not only during festivals but throughout the year.
The team also assured to develop the approach road at the earliest while asking the locals to extend maximum support when the developmental works are executed by the department and work agency concerned.
Koide is a cluster of villages located on the bank of Barak River about 90 km north of Imphal and about 60 km South of Kohima.
Interestingly, the new development came after a recent visit of Manipur Assembly Press Advisory Committee members at Naamai Zho on September 25 and 26.During the visit, leaders of Koide Union submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to develop the approach road and construct infrastructure at the spot to attract tourists.
The KU leaders thanked the Chief Minister, PWD team and Senapati police under SP Karthik Malladi for showing keen interest to promote Naamai Zho as a tourist spot.
It is reported that police personnel from Purul police station are being stationed at the cosmos blooming site every weekend.
