Imphal, October 15 2022:
Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam has clarified that there have been no discrepancies in the tender process for selection of Transport contractors.
He was responding to allegations of discrepancies in the tender process published in some sections of the media.
Speaking to media persons at his office at North AOC yesterday evening, Ng Uttam said the tender process to select transport contractors was started last month to carry out necessary transport of grains and supplementary nutrition from Food Corporation of India (FCI) for distribution to children and pregnant/lactating mothers through Anganwadi centres under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) of the Social Welfare Department.
"Out of a total of 16 firms bidding, 7 have been considered.
And the Tender Committee has only begun verification of the documents submitted by the firms.
For verification, mobile applications-- M-Parivahan and RTO-Vehicle Information are used.
In case vehicle registration number submitted is not found or couldn't be verified through the applications, the Transport Department is requested to provide the necessary details.
"When the verification is underway, unfortunately some individuals with vested interest have levelled allegations to malign the image of the Department and assassinate my image," Ng Uttam said.
The tender process is not finished yet.
Even after the tender process is done, legal action according to law will be initiated against those selected firms found submitting false documents/information.
"There may be some loopholes in the process as I am not an expert in the tender process.
However, this doesn't mean that firms which had submitted forged documents have been selected as transport contractors" .
Stating that he is open to suggestions, Ng Uttam said people should be aware of individuals who are spreading false allegations in the matter.
