FPS agents demand honorarium release

Thoubal District Agent Fair Price Shop Association president W Ningth-em has urged the state government to clear the pending honorarium for 43 months of Fair Price Shop (FPS) agents before the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba Festival.
Briefing the media at Thoubal DC Complex on Friday, Ningthem said that FPS agents have not been paid the honorarium for 28 months from July, 2019 till September, 2021 with regard to NFSA and 15 months 'with regard to PMGKAY.
The agents have been working tirelessly to distribute rice to the beneficiaries, while placing their lives at risk during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On top of this, agents have shelled out their private money to transport rice from the warehouse, including labour charges.
All of these have put immense burden upon the agents.
Thus, he urged the state Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department and officials concerned to clear the pending honorariums of the agents at the earliest.
