NCSK chairman meets IE safai karamcharis

National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) chairman M Venkatesan on Friday gave assurance to the safai karamcharis of the state that he will place their demands for regular post and pay hike to the Governor and the chief minister of Manipur.
Interacting with the safai karamcharis and outsourced NGOs at Panchayat Bhavan, DC Complex, Porompat, he noted that the state's safai karamcharis (working as Muster Roll) are getting Rs 225 as daily wages as compared to the Rs 350-400 daily wages directed by Supreme Court of India.
He learnt that the safai karamcharis are covered under the EPF and they are under the process to be registered under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
The NCSK chairman then advised officials of municipal bodies to make provisions for inclusion of safai karamcharis under various insurance schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) among others.
He also asked the officials to give awareness to the safai karamcharis regarding the various components of the National Safai Karamcharis Welfare Scheme.
Stating that his parents were also safai karamcharis, M Venkatesan said he knows the plight of the workers and assured that he will help in solving their problems.
He also appealed to the safai karamcharis to address their grievances without hesitation so that he can bring a solution to their problems.
He said those who want to share their grievances can email to the Commission or give a call or text in Whatsapp/voice message in his personal number which he gave to them during the interaction programme.
The interaction programme was attended by Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana Devi, SP N Herojit Singh, officials of Municipalities including IMC commissioner K Chandrakumar Singh and Imphal East DC staffers.
