Imphal, October 08 2021:
Pointing out that the tenure of the executive council of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO expired in early 2019, JAC secretary (organisation) Laishram Ranjoy has said that the executive council can no longer perform any activities as per Article 9(l) of the JAC.
Addressing a press meet at DIPR conference hall here on Friday, Ranjay said that Covid-19 pandemic began only in March 2020 in the state and ft could not be an excuse for failure to form a new executive council as the tenure of the existing council expired in 2019.As the trade unions and employees lost their trust on the executive council led by Laitonjam Biken, several delegates did not attend a general body meeting held at Babupara office on August 10, 2019.Another special general body meeting convened at GM hall also ended up with only about 10 delegates attending and failing to adopt any resolution due to lack of quorum, he said.
On the other hand, the Babupara office of the JAC, which has been allotted to the JAC by the state government about four decades back, was de-notified this year by a government order.
Miffed by the incident, trade unions and employee organisations under the aegis of Medical Department Employees' Association sent a communique to Biken regarding the issue of the Babupara office.
Instead of giving any positive response, he only said that the executive council will do its duty entrusted by delegates of trade unions and employees' unions, Ranjoy said.
