Steep hike in deaths with 6, 128 new cases recorded

Imphal, October 08 2021:
A steep rise in the death toll and marginal increase in the fresh Covid positive cases and daily test positivity rate marked the Covid count of the last 24 hours as 6 deaths and 128 cases were reported in the period.
As the 128 positive cases were detected from among the 2,418 samples tested, the daily positivity rate thus registered is 5.3 percent.
District wise, Noney reported the highest daily test positivity rate with 11.1 percent while four districts namely Pherzawl, Tamenglong, Kamjong and Kakching reported no case.
Out of 18 samples tested at Noney, two returned positive results.
The 128 Covid positive cases were confirmed at RIMS (4), JNIMS (15) and other testing centres (109) and are from Imphal East (20), Imphal West (70), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (4), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (4), Chandel (6), Senapati (1), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (2), Jiribam (3) and Noney (2) .
According to COVID-19 Common Control Room, the six Covid deaths, on the other hand, were reported from Imphal East (1), Imphal West (2), Thoubal (1) and Ukhrul (2), pushing the cumulative number of deaths to 1882 .
None of the deceased were vaccinated and 4 had co-morbidity.
Today, 191 were discharged from Home Isolation (65), JNIMS (22) and CCCs (104), further improving the recovery rate to 97.7 percent and reducing the active cases to 1,683.The recovery rate and active cases updated on Thursday were 97.1 percent and 1,752 respectively.
The cumulative figure of Covid positive cases is 1,21,706 .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 986 D-type and 196 B-type cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities while the number of Covid vaccine doses administered on October 7 was 4289 .
As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, COVID-19 beds available at different health care centres are RIMS (general beds 196; ICU/HDU beds 23), JNIMS (general beds 34; ICU/HDU beds 16), CMC Koirengei (general beds 26; ICU/HDU beds 08), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 25; ICU/HDU beds 5), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 51; ICU/HDU beds 39) and Raj Medicity (general beds 77; ICU/HDU beds 22) .
