35th NMSYO Sports meet begins at ancestral Maram Khullen village

The 35th Northern Maram Students and Youths Organization (NMSYO) Sports Meet was opened at Maramei Namdi (ancestral Maram Khullen) Village today with the theme "ForgingForward".
The annual sports meet hosted by Maram Mathak Sagai Unit will culminate on October 17.Attending the inaugural function of the sports meet as the chief guest, former Deputy Speaker K Raina congratulated NMSYO for bringing people together,young and old at Maram Khullen from its 17 satellite villages through this year's edition of the sports meet.
Saying that to strengthen the Northern Maram Organization, contributions from every concerned individual are paramount, he expounded that it is time the younger generation shares responsibility of elders to take forward the organization and its ideals.
He reminded the gathering that the ancestral Maram Khullen village was prosperous in every field during the age of ancestors and thus the present Maram population can.
Though he regretted that education in the area came lately comparatively with other advanced communities, he stressed that unity can forge them ahead.
He stressed that no one is perfect and that one needs to forgive and reconcile one another to march forward while at the same time reminding the youth to learn good traditions and customs from elders to keep the society prosperous.
As Maram Khullen Village is situated on a hilltop and water scarcity is a major problem of the villagers, guest of honour, ex-executive Member ADC, Senapati A Rang requested the gathering to support the village in its quest to get water connection.
Northern Maram People's Orgamzationpresident RK Kamba was the special guest.
Besides host of dignitaries, general secretary Maram Union Pungdi P Celestine; presidents of Maram Students' Union, Maram Women Union, Northern Maram Women Union, Senapati District Olympic Association Manipur and respective village headmen, chairmen and secretaries attended the inaugural ceremony, the statement continued.
24 teams are participating in the men's and women's football and volleyball competitions of the sports meet, it added.
