Imphal, October 08 2021:
Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar has stated that Manipur has been degrading in every aspect ever since BJP came to power and alleged that the present government led by BJP in the state is more interested in arresting and muzzling people's voice rather than hearing complaints.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Library cum Information Centre at Tangkham on Friday, Lokeshwar opined that people believed that the state would develop more when BJP came to power but it turned out to be contradictory.
When people lodge complaint or give suggestions, the present government muzzles voices of the people instead of striving to resolve the problem or filter the positive feedbacks.
If this trend continues unabated, a stage would come for the people to confine in their own residences, he added.
To fight the second wave of COVID-19, the present government asked every locality to form task force and even promised to provide financial assistance but no money has been provided till date.
Instead of taking up measures to prevent the impending third wave COVID-19, the government remains telling lies to the people, he alleged, while adding that there has been no significant development during the tenure of the present government.
Chief minister N Biren might be from Imphal East district, but he is still unable to chalk out a policy to develop the district, maintained the former Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Prices of petroleum products and cooking gas have skyrocketed ever since BJP came to power at the Centre while lives of the poor people have rendered meaningless and more worrisome due to hike in prices of essential commodities amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the government has no plan to help the poor people, he said and appealed to people to save themselves from BJP's policy of buying people's rights and life by investing huge money during election.
During the event also attended by formed pradhan of Tangkham GP and former BJP Knundrakpam Maridal president Ng Iboyai and senior citizen Ch Chaoba, Th Lokeshwar further said that he has been serving people of Khundrakpam with a firm commitment to make the AC one of the leading ACs of the state by taking up various developmental activities.
