MHHDC chairman inspects Kolkata Panthoibi Emporium

Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) chairman S Achouba along with Panthoibi Emporium Imphal manager Th Rabi paid an inspection visit to Panthoibi Manipur Emporium at Dakuria in Kolkata on Friday and assured adequate supply of handloom and handicraft products having high demand.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle over the phone from Kolkata, Achouba informed that the emporium will be renovated to attract more customers and to better showcase the products of the state.
The old stocks will be sold at discounted rate through Buy One Get One Free policy ahead of Diwali festival and similar policy will be applied for the emporiums in Delhi and Imphal as well.

Diwali festivals.
Among the products being sold in the emporium, cotton saree, tribal shawls for women, Khudei Matek, Leirum Lengyan (stole), Moirang Phijal Phanek, Moirang Phijal Innaphi, and Mora (stool), mat & handbags made of water reeds are in high demand among foreign tourists and local residents.
Special initiatives will be taken up to ensure adequate and regular supply of these products with high demand, he said.
Rabi said that Kolkata has been a tried and tested ground for selling handloom and handicraft products of the state.
Policies for improving the trade and attract more visitors were discussed with the manager of Panthoibi Emporium in Kolkata during their visit.
During the meeting, MHHDCL chairman S Achouba assured of remodelling the interior designing of the emporium to better showcase the products, he informed.
