Wayfarer Manikanta reaches Imphal

Wayfarer Manikanta Mutum, who began his solo journey from Imphal and passed through all Meetei villages in Assam to spread the message 'No to Drugs, Our Green World' arrived here on Monday.
Manikanta Mutum, who set out his travel on foot from Kangla on September 10 last, was warmly received by MLA Karam Shyam upon reaching his home in Langthabal constituency.
Manikanta took around 50 days, covered 2,200 kilometres and planted more than 1,000 tree saplings with the help of around 60 clubs during the journey.
Speaking at the reception ceremony organised by We 4 U Foundation and Karam Awang Leikai Young Club at Lainingthou Nongshaba Shanglen, MLA Karam Shyam encouraged the youth to stay away from addictive substances and become like Manikanta as a role model.
Instead of morally supporting wasteful activities that would dent progress of the society, we need to support the brave youth who contributes to bringing a progressive and stronger society, he stressed.
The MLA had handed over a sum of Rs 50,000 as an encouragement to Manikanta for completing his journey.
We 4 U Foundation also gave the title 'Meitei Nongsha' to wayfarer Manikanta.
