After warning residents of a strict helmet drive for two wheelers, the TCP Churachandpur has today started imposing fines on those flouting the safety norms.
The district police since the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions advised two wheeler riders to wear helmets at all times.
They warned of an imminent drive, and sought the cooperation of village authorities and local CSOs to raise awareness about the importance of wearing helmets.
A circular was then issued announcing strict vigil to be taken from November 1 .

More than two people riding on one vehicle will also be fined said the police.
Today as the deadline kicked in, the TCP began the drive to check those riding two wheelers.
Many have landed in the police net despite the over drive seen the previous weeks.
Police source said they have collected a total of Rs 35,500 as fines today.
The helmet drive will continue in the coming days and residents have been advised to strictly conform to wearing helmets while riding motorcycles and scooters for their own safety, it said.
