Road mishap claims entrepreneur's life

Kangpokpi, September 16 2022:
An over-speeding truck loaded with sand heading towards Imphal hit a young entrepreneur who came riding a two-wheeler at around 5 pm on Thursday along the National Highway 2 in the heart of Yaikongpao village claiming his life at the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Seiminlal alias Lalbem Tuboi (37), son of Paothong Tuboi from Gelnal village in Twilang area, but residing at Kangpokpi Nanglhun Veng Ward No 15 .
The driver of the truck (NL01N-1767) reportedly fled the scene after the accident.
Villagers of Yaikongpao immediately covered the body of the deceased and also put off the fire that inflamed the truck as a result of dragging the two-wheeler stuck beneath its front wheels for about 35 yards from the place of occurrence.
On learning of the accident, Kangpokpi police and Kangpokpi Youth Union rushed to the spot.
Kangpokpi Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Over-speeding of both empty and loaded trucks, escorted tankers and LPG bullets has always been one of the main factors of tragic road mishaps along the NH 2 in which many precious lives had already been lost.
